Books I Want to Read

Here is a list of some of the books I want to read this coming year and since this year isn't over yet don't be surprised if one or two are read before it's over. There is no particular order to the list and when I'm done I will put them in bold.
Little Men (reading right now)
Caddie Woodlawn (also reading right now)
A Christmas Carol (Plan on reading before Christmas)
Jane Eyre
Lonesome Gods
Laddie
Animal Farm
Just so Stories
5000 Year Leap (ok not really a classic but one I want to read)
The Yearling
The Fountainhead
The Secret Garden
Wind in the Willows
Pride and Prejuduce
Jo's Boys
The Robe
Of course I'm sure I'm not going to read all of these this year since I'll probablly read some more recent books. I'm looking forward to Brandon Mull's new book coming out early next year and I want to read some of Shannon Hale's books.

My Journey into the Classics

Ok I admit I had never read Little Women until now I really can't believe I'm admitting that. Well I grew up a reader but it was books that I picked out or the schools mandatory reading list. I was never guided to the classics or at least classics that I would enjoy. For so many years I thought classics were dull and uninteresting because of the ones I was forced to read. No offense but I can't stand Steinbeck and since I lived in Calafornia during my high school years they felt they needed to cram him down our throughts. Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, the Bronte Sisters, George Orwell, James Herriot, just to name a few were never introduced to me in school. I wish that there would have been more variety I don't think there was even one female writer that I was introduced to during those four years. I did read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings but that book was chosen by me from a list of books the teacher had given us. My goal this year is to extend my literary mind and read various classic books. I won't give my list of ideas at this moment since there are so many and so little time right now but my goals is to read anywhere from 8-12 classics.

I Really hate coming up with Titles

Jeremiah has found out his new schedule he's going to be working M-F mornings to afternoons. I'm excited about this we'll almost feel like normal people instead of night owls. I'm just not looking forward to changing sleep scedules for the whole family including me I really like staying up late but it has been a drain on me lately. It'll work out perfectly for the summer months because when Jeremiah gets home there will be plenty of time to do things together as a family.

Just life in general

This past weekend we had a oppurtunity to visit the in-laws for their Birthdays (they are only a day apart). This whole decision was last minute (which I really don't like) we decided Friday morning that we were going to try to go. Jeremiah had to see if he could get Sat. off or else we would have to just go Sunday and make it a quick trip. Lucky for us he was able to get it off and were able to take off Saturday morning later then planned but that isn't unusual. The Grandparents were excited to see Liahona espicially since only Aunt Holly knew we were coming. Liahona really enjoyed playing with her cousins the first time in a long time. It was fun watching her interact with Daniel I really wish that they lived closer so they could be good friends.

Update!!

I can't believe that has been over a year since I last wrote on this blog I'm hoping that now that things are settled I can get busy on this again. Last year we took a look at the Daybreak area and feel in love and impressed that we needed to move here. That was a big step even though we live in Utah where the housing crisis wasn't as bad as the rest of the country it still was a buyers market. We went on faith and gathered our money needed to put as a down for the "condo" that we wanted which meant scraping together a lot of coins. We put our house up for sell and kept scraping together the money need for the construction down as we waited for our house to sell. We were put with a wonderful realtor and with her help and suggestions (which meant doing some painting, rearranging of furniture, planting, and packing some of our extra stuff) we were able to have our house sold in less than 6 months. We then moved into a small town home while we waited for our place to be finished which meant living out of boxes for 4 months. We were able to move in just before Christmas which was nice. Now that we are moved in and almost unpacked it is time to get back to business. I haven't done pre-school stuff with her for the past 8 months so I'm hoping that next week.
